What is a CPMT?
Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist is a massage therapist or other
health care professional who has received specific advanced training to
enhance their skills in providing pediatric massage therapy. Through their advanced training, a CPMT has learned about providing massage therapy for children with special healthcare needs, children who are hospitalized or have been diagnosed with a terminal illness in hospice care.
A CPMT has knowledge of various massage techniques for working with children with varied physical, developmental, emotional, and mental challenges and has practiced these skills during hands-on in class sessions. A CPMT has
learned the many benefits and importance of individualized adaptation,
including cultural considerations, for using massage therapy with children.
