Medical Massage:
Medical massage is measurable and outcome-based therapy using a variety of techniques, which may include Postural Assessment, Trigger Point and Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Stretching and Joint Mobilization, and Lymphatic Drainage to address underlying issues that may be causing pain, numbness, or or a variety of other symptoms. You do not need a prescription for medical massage, however it may be necessary if filing for insurance.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD):
Lymphatic drainage massage is a very light and gentle massage used to increase lymphatic circulation and help detoxify the body. It can drain sluggish lymph nodes, cleans and regenerate tissues and organs, and promote balance of chemistry. This modality will also assist the body in removing wastes more rapidly from inflamed tissues, such as in the cases of post-surgery and acute injuries. Lymphatic drainage is effective with such things as:
- Lymphedema - Vertigo - Headaches - Scar tissue regeneration
- Chronic fatigue - Sinusitis - Arthritis
Sports Massage:
This special form of massage is typically used before, during, and after athletic events to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility, and to prevent injuries. Depending on the needs of the client, a variety of techniques are used including classic Swedish strokes, cross-fiber friction, pressure-point work, and joint mobilization.
Prenatal Massage:
Pregnancy places strong demands on a woman's body to be nurtured and pampered. This massage not only relieves the tensions and aches caused by the extra weight and shift in the center of gravity, but it also reduces swelling, soothes nervous system, acts as a tonic, reduces fatigue, and enhances energy. (Massage is not recommended during 1st trimester).
